KENNETH KNIGHT
Artistic Director & Conductor
Founding artistic director and conductor Kenneth Knight, a native of Texas, received his Bachelor of Arts in music theory from Yale University, where he was a soloist with the Yale Glee Club and the Whiffenpoofs. After graduate study in voice, musicology, and conducting at the Manhattan School of Music, he toured for several seasons with the Norman Luboff Choir. He has also sung with the Roger Wagner Chorale, the Gregg Smith Singers, the Don Ellis Band, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, American Bach Soloists, and the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra Chorus. In 1987, he was chosen to be principal cantor for papal masses at the Los Angeles Coliseum and Dodger Stadium on the occasion of the visit of Pope John Paul II. In California, he was director of music for eight years at St. Clare’s Catholic Church in Santa Clarita and for five years at Petaluma United Methodist Church. He is also the founding director of the Sonoma County Men’s Chorus. A resident of Santa Fe for nine years, Mr. Knight also directs the Zia Singers and the Santa Fe Men’s Camerata.
RICHARD T. BUFFLER
Board President
Richard serves as the President of CN's board, providing overall leadership and guidance for the organization, as well as helping with coordination of concerts, marketing, PR, and fundraising activities. He is a retired geologist, formerly with the University of Texas at Austin. He has been active in neighborhood organizations in Berkeley, CA, and recently he was the President of the local Galisteo Compound Condo Assoc. in Santa Fe.
PETER N. IVES
Board Vice President
Peter serves as the Vice President of CN’s Board, providing overall guidance to the organization, and specific legal expertise. Peter is Senior Counsel at The Trust for Public Land, and is also involved with The Sangre de Christo Chorale, The New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts, The Navajo Nation Bar Association, The Harvard-Radcliffe Club of NM and St. Francis Cathedral Basilica.
BARBARA E. SHOEMAKER
Board Secretary and Treasurer
Barbara serves as both Secretary and Treasurer for CN’s Board. She retired to Santa Fe in 2006 from a career in software consulting. She is also active with the Santa Fe Symphony & Chorus (serving on the Chorus Council as Secretary for 3 years). Barbara sings alto with Canticum Novum.
ROBERT C. HILL
Bob assists with financial management of CN, and also helps with concert logistics. He is a Vice President and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley. He is also active with the Santa Fe Men’s Camerata and The National Association of Business Economists.
BOO MILLER
Boo assists with Canticum Novum’s administration and concert logistics. She is a retired music educator and children’s choir director. In addition to her work with Canticum Novum, she has served as Production conductor for Santa Fe Opera (Noah's Flood) and facilitator for the outreach program of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. She is a member of Music Educator's National Conference and of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
